MgA. Vaclav Rezac (glass artist, glass designer)
In 1991 – 1995, he studied at the High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod, field of glass blowing. Then he became a student of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he studied in 1995 – 2001 in the atelier of glass of Vladimír Kopecký.
He had a practical internship in the glass factory Moser a. s. in Karlovy Vary (1998).
Since 1997, he has regularly participated in international symposia, workshops and collective exhibitions both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
The author has featured as one of the prominent personalities of the younger generation of authors of studio glass. Contrary to many contemporary artists – glass-makers, who rather incline to the mould melting glass technique, he has based his concept of creation of the sculptures on using the aesthetics of the blowing forming of glass and sheet glass.
In addition to the free art creation from glass, Řezáč has been active in designing drinking glass, which is made in local glass firms. Nowadays, the author works on a project, the objective of which is to interconnect the world of the seeing with the world of the blind with the use of a drinking glass that is used by all of us every day. As a décor of the glasses, Václav Řezáč uses the Braille script for the blind.
After studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, Václav Řezáč has been active in own production; furthermore, he also worked as a director of the Foundation Fund of Martin Buber that supports the development of education in the field of philosophy, theology, psychotherapy and art.
2006 – 2016 he worked as a manager of the mould melted glass studio Lhotský s.r.o.
Since 2016 – 2019 he works as an Associate Professor in Toyama city Institute of Glass Art, Toyama, Japan.
